I’m tired of cooking same dishes over and over again. I love experimenting but the problem is our ref is usually not complete with the ingredients I need. So, I end up making use of what is available. I intentionally avoid going to the grocery these past days to avoid unnecessary spending, thus the incomplete stock of grocery stuff.
I am glad, I still was able to come up with a simple but appetizing dish. And here is the outcome of that experiment.
- Big sized shrimps
- 1/4 kl ground beef
- 1 egg
- soy sauce
- 1/2 head garlic- chopped
- 1 big white onion- chopped
- 1 carrot- julienne cut
- freshly ground black pepper
Remove shrimp's shells leaving the tail attached. Cut the shrimp at the back, making it look like butterfly. Put a little salt and ground pepper. Set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, garlic, onion, black pepper, salt, soy sauce, egg, flour, corn starch. Blend well. Coat with the mixture one shrimp at a time. Deep fry. When golden brown, set aside on a paper towel laden plate to absorb remaining oil. Prepare sweet and sour sauce.
For Sweet and Sour Sauce:
In a small mixing bowl, combine 1 cup water, vinegar, salt, sugar, catsup, ground pepper and cornstarch. In a sauce pan, saute garlic and onion and pour the mixture. Bring to a boil then drop the carrots. Pour over arranged shrimp-meatballs on a platter. Serve hot.
Note: Use the ingredients according to your taste. No exact measurement done.
